Leading Authority on Emotional Wisdom and Individual & Team Development
As a speaker, facilitator, coach, consultant, and scholar of indigenous wisdom, Ruth King, MA, provides a unique understanding and integration of what it means to be emotionally wise. Weaving depth psychology, Buddhist philosophy, reflective cognition, metaphysics, and geneology, King provides pioneering methods that enhance self awareness and social skills that foster a wholesome mind, intellectual confidence, moral consciousness, humility, and ambition that leaves good legacy.
Ruth King is the author of the groundbreaking book Healing Rage–Women Making Inner Peace Possible [Penguin Publishing Group, 2007]. A sampling of her wisdom became an O Magazine Nugget in the July 2007 issue. In her book Healing Rage, King reveals her love of humanity with powerful insights about the trajectory of rage as a healing force in our life. Among the many who have endorsed her book, Alice Walker, Pulitzer Prize Winner for The Color Purple says:
“Healing Rage is a classic self-help book filled with passion, earthiness and wisdom… Ruth King’s desire for our wellness and freedom radiates throughout. This is a book that can change your life.”
The knowledge and inspiration that inhabits Healing Rage was derived from King’s own “full-on” living and from over 20 years of experience and learning from diverse fields of study. King’s education includes Master’s coursework in Organizational Development at Pepperdine University [1985], and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology at John F. Kennedy University [1991]. At this University, she served as adjunct faculty in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology. King is also a scholar of Buddhist philosophy and a seasoned mindfulness practitioner.
King has studied indigenous cultures in China, the Philippines, Europe, Cuba, Brazil, Scandinavia, and India, and led diversity tours to Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, and South Africa. King was also a Vanguard Public Foundation 2001 finalist of the Social Justice Sabbatical Fund. Ruth Shares:
“I’m able to go back and forth between cultures and experience our oneness. From this place of oneness, I serve.”
All of this education and expertise served her well when she conducted leadership training programs at Levi Strauss and Intel corporations. These are a few among the multinational companies that have benefited from King’s leadership and outstanding ability to synergize the emotional body and mind. While consulting and offering workshops in such organizations she consulted to leaders on workplace trauma and the emotional and cultural implications of mergers, acquisitions, and severe downsizing. Currently, King focuses her expertise on leadership and team development and is recognized as a consultant to consultants, practitioners and clinicians.
Responding to the emotional challenges in our personal lives, for over 15 years, King has been leading Generational Healing™ and Celebration of Rage™ retreats—highly acclaimed as demonstrated by the countless testimonials received by Ms. King. In these events, participants are empowered to release and heal their emotional distress, understand the relationship between mind, body and brain, honor their ancestors, and become reacquainted with their greatness.
King currently works extensively with organizations, managers, counselors, consultants, social workers, psychotherapists, educators, trauma workers, practitioners of the healing and expressive arts, spiritual counselors, artists, activists, mothers, and other women and men who influence the lives of others. While her content addresses the commonality at the heart of these groups, King is also meticulous about customizing to respond to the specific needs of her clients.

“I’m an experiential learner and teacher. I balance theory and practice; learning and action. I create experiences where individuals rediscover what they deeply know, then I support them to live by it.” – Ruth King
“With Ruth’s professional warmth and illuminating guidance, we explored deeply and peeled many layers of the onion. Her gift [to our group] was a new series of memories that reinforced the beauty and promise of genuine, authentic engagement. – Maeve Richard, Formally, Director of Finance, Levi Strauss & Company, and Assistant Treasurer, Sun Microsystems, Inc. San Francisco, CA
“After the twin towers collapsed you offered a one day healing workshop to process our feelings during that time. I came to that workshop. It was beyond helpful. A lot got worked through after that. As a child of parents who fled countries where persecution ruled their life, it was a great offering on your part. Thank you.”
“Do you have any idea how truly special you are? You are the epitome of grace, wisdom, integrity – street-wise and book-knowledgeable, outrageous and grounded, a truth-caller and a thoughtful questioner, provocative and calming all at once! Thank you for the powerful and nurturing way you loved me and our group into deeper awareness and personal mastery.” –Delorese Ambrose, Ed.D, author and President of Ambrose Consulting, Stone Mountain, GA
“Thanks for providing Building the Village for me to participate with other women of color in creating a world filled with positive and nurturing people. This was exactly what we needed after the loss of a key political player to suicide. Thanks for being there for us.” – Sandra Murray, Ph.D., School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, PA
